Danielle Genet - Marketing and Advertising Assistant

Danielle Genet
Marketing and Advertising Assistant
Danielle joined the KNC Team in 2007. You may have also seen her at the Samsung Tournament in Palm Desert. What a life! This year she will winter in Rancho Mirage and summer in Half Moon Bay.
Danielle, what is your role at the Kraft Nabisco Championship?
One of my many roles on the KNC Staff is to coordinate our 700+ volunteers. I am their contact for the registration process, uniform distribution, and the liaison between the volunteers, their chairperson and committee. This task is a process that usually takes four months from planning to execution.
In addition to being the Volunteer Coordinator, I am the Assistant to the Marketing and Advertising Manager, Tamra Borson. Our job is to promote the Kraft Nabisco Championship and make it a household name. We do this through many different facets, such as our Senior Putting and Million Dollar Hole In One contest. Both events span approximately two weeks and lead up to the tournament. At the end of February, we attend the Annual Golf Expo in Long Beach and are usually the ONLY LPGA event represented. During this weekend event, we pass out fliers, ticket order forms and Oreo Cookies. Once we come full circle, another amazing Kraft Nabisco Championship is just around the corner, and I couldn't be happier.
I understand before last year you weren't much of a golf fan. Is that true?
If you would have asked me during the summer of 2006 who Brittney Lincicome was, I would have asked "An Actress?" Ask me today and I can tell you who she is, who her sponsor is, and what she likes to do when she is not golfing. Brittney likes to play Texas Hold 'Em, in case you were wondering. What I am saying is this; Golf has become a positive part of who I am. I never in a million years thought it would have the impact that it has had on me. The people I have met along the way have only bettered my life and my career. I owe who I am today to the LPGA, but mostly to the Kraft Nabisco Championship.
Have you been bitten by the golf bug yet?
I have not picked up golf yet, but I have learned over the last two years that anything is possible, and never say never.
I hear working the KNC is a family affair for you. How has your family been involved with the tournament?
My little "BIG" brother, Jon-Paul Genet is the Assistant of Operations for the Kraft Nabisco Championship. Jon-Paul heads up F-Troop who is solely responsible for the exterior look and feel of the event. It seems that every year one of our "family" members joins us at the event. We have quite a few friends who will be hands on with us this year, as well as our parents, Ron and Debbie. Ron will be working F-Troop with Jon-Paul, and Debbie will be helping Ann in our merchandise tent, The Gallery at the 18th. Family has always been important to me, and to have them here to share this event with me is amazing. I owe who I am to them; they are my best friends.
John Stiles
Chairman Emeritus
John, the Kraft Nabisco Championship is fast approaching its 37th anniversary at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, CA. I understand that you were a volunteer at our first event in 1972. Can you tell us some of your recollections from your years of service to the tournament and the community?
How did you become involved in 1972?
The Palm Springs Chamber of Commerce was responsible for parking cars the first few years of the tournament. The charities, United Way of the Desert and Desert Hospital, were responsible for ordering tickets, pre-sales, and onsite sales. We also did the program and sold advertising for the program. In those days, we were on what is now Desert West Dr. which was just a sandy track around the west and north side of the country club. Ticket seller stood in the sand and wind to sell tickets. We changed shifts every four hours which made balancing ticket sales interesting.
What is your current involvement?
Chairman Emeritus on the Parking, Security and Media Shuttle committees. I help the current chairs- Jack Murdock & Jack Wheeler- in the day-to-day operations.
What is your greatest challenge?
Having enough volunteers
What has been your most rewarding accomplishment?
Just to see the committees working well together in parking cars and selling tickets during the rush hours. The goal is always to get the tournament patrons to the tournament as fast as possible. It has been interesting to watch the tournament grow from the early beginnings into this major national event.
Any favorite recollections about Dinah?
Dinah was a very friendly lady. She would stop and talk to the volunteers and ask how things were going. She had a genuine interest in the tournament and volunteers.
Tell us about your life away from the tournament?
I have been in commercial real estate in the Coachella Valley for about 30 years. Currently I mix work with travel where I try to take a couple of cruises a year plus shorter side trips to interesting locations closer to California. My family includes a daughter who lives and works in the Coachella Valley and two sons. One family with two grandchildren lives in Denver and the other with one grandson lives in Arcadia.
